isaiah updates:

loooooves playing on the computer. he could be on the playhouse disney website all day long if we let him. what's funny is when he opens up a gazillion windows and you just hear a gazillion mickey mouse voices each talking a split second after one another. "the computer is making scary noises!" says a wide-eyed isaiah as he bolts out of the study.

he has this dry erase placemat with the alphabet on it that he can trace. he sat with it for a half hour last night. time to go to bed, isaiah. are you ready? "in a minute. i'm working."

we're getting ready to transition isaiah and ethan out of our bed and into their own room. isaiah, do you want to sleep in your own room with ethan like a big boy? "no. i don't want to sleep in my own bed. i want to sleep with you because i'm scared to sleep in my own room." you can't really argue with that. direct answer, valid reason. we'll be working on that...

i'm amazed at how independent isaiah is. he goes to the bathroom by himself. he can change his clothes and put on his socks. he's making his own choices. (isaiah, you can eat your dinner or go in time out. sometimes it works and he chooses to eat. sometimes it's "i don't want ANYthing!") he's understanding better the responsibilities of being a big brother. last week at church isaiah and ethan wanted the same book. ethan was starting to cry, so eric explained to isaiah that ethan would continue to be loud unless isaiah gave him the book. so isaiah gave him the book. along with that, he understands that church is a place where you are very quiet and a good boy.

we get busted by isaiah a lot. "stupid" and "shut up" and "sucks" are regular jargon for the adults in my house...we get a lot of "you don't say stupid!" or "you don't say that word!" from isaiah. sorry, you're right. we don't say stupid. stupid is a bad word. should i go in time out? "no, you don't have to go in time out!" isaiah will say with a smile. phew.
