tomorrow is picture day. we took the older boys to get their hair cut today at bosco's. who would have thought that the best place to take your son to get his hair cut would be a barber shop in a mall where the barbers are all older men who speak english as a second language? there's no appointment necessary, no wait (cuz there are 8 barbers just sitting around waiting for customers), they're awesome with little kids and it's super fast. $12 is more than i would like to pay to get their hair cut, but when you think of the service, it can't be beat!

isaiah likes to talk. he likes to memorize tv shows and what they say in between tv shows and then recite them back. you'll often catch him reciting a tv show under his breath when he has nothing better to do.

he likes to tell stories. sr. yvonne told eric last week, "this one [referring to isaiah] has a LOT of stories." he talks easily with his classmates. his best friend at school might be a boy named jacob. they're about the same size (okay, jacob is a little taller) and they are sooo cute when the talk to each other. they had their first class field trip and isaiah and jacob spent the whole time together. isaiah made friends with one of his classmates that also goes to latch key. his name is carter and i swear he's as tall as a first grader.

we were at mass last week and there was a reading from the book of isaiah ("hey! that's my name!") which mentions jacob ("hey, that's my class friend, jacob!"). in the gospel reading according to matthew ("hey, that's another one of my class friends, matthew!") they also talked about grace ("i don't believe it! that's FOUR names of my class friends! [counting on his fingers] isaiah, jacob, matthew and grace!")

one of my favorite things about isaiah right now is that you can reason with him. when he's tired, he's not so rational, but for the most part, he's good. i may have pulled the santa card out to get him to eat broccoli, stop crying over something silly and other things. i try not to play it often, but when i do it's instant good behavior. crazy.
