whenever isaiah would get dressed for church, we'd always tell him how handsome he looked in his nice clothes. these clothes are now known as "handsome" clothes.

when isaiah gets home from school i always tell him to change out of his uniform. mostly so the clothes will last longer. his thing now is hoodies. he always needs a hoodie. the other day he was changing out of his uniform:

"mom, i can't find a hoodie! can you find one for me?"
just pick out a long sleeved shirt.
"but there are no long sleeved shirts! can you help me?"
here's one.
(it's a navy henley. very casual.)
"but that's a handsome shirt. are we going to church?"

i think he thought it was a "handsome" shirt because it had buttons. oh, isaiah!

isaiah can read. he can really read. we're not talking about regurgitating memorized books, we're talking about REAL reading. last weekend he brought one of his new dinosaur books to me and told me he could read me a story. okay, isaiah. "read" me a story. and he proceded to read me a story! no one had read it to him before. he hadn't memorized it. just slowly but surely reading through each word on the pages, occasionally looking at the pictures for help. i'm so proud of him.

speaking of proud...isaiah tied his shoe all by himself today for the first time! hooray! the sooner he learns to tie his own shoes, the sooner eric will stop requesting that isaiah wear velcro shoes.
