at bedtime last night, we had had the lights out for a good 5 minutes. clearly, it was time to sleep. isaiah had been tossing around, but was quiet. then a little shadow appears by eric's head: "hiiii!!" super clear, super loud.

hahaha. what a silly boy.

isaiah's starting to understand right from wrong. he can't use the "but i didn't know and i won't be developed enough to understand for a while" excuse anymore. enter time outs and stern reprimands. (side note: it's amazing how long 1 minute is for a time out.)

at church, isaiah is usually pretty good for 3/4 of the mass. it's usually when we get to the "holy holy holy" that he becomes restless. he dropped his binky and i let him go get it. (he drops his binky a zillion times during mass.) a lightbulb went off in his head: "aha! i can run around if it means i have to go get my binky!" so he starts throwing his binky so he can walk even farther to get it. eric sits him down and says "no, isaiah. we do not throw our binky. no throwing." isaiah pauses. processes what eric told him. looks down. then looks at eric, waves, and says, "hiii."

so that's how we know that he gets it. whenever we tell him that he's done something that he shouldn't do, he stops for a second to process it, understands it, then says "hi." it's hard to not smile when he does this cuz it can be really cute. then there are those times where he just totally tunes you out. but that's another story....

Comments:
at least you're in the baby room (right?) so it only disturbs the other parents with the kids that make a lot of noise... :-P

what is funny is I still remember when we went to church and mom and dad brough us to the "kids" area (I think it might have doubled as an adoration room)... although we no longer had binkies at that point...

crazy...
